W Kazakhstan records over 21,000 influenza cases
21,089 influenza cases were reported in West Kazakhstan since October 1, Kazinform News Agency reports.
According to acting head of the sanitary and epidemiological control department of West Kazakhstan Nurlybek Mustayev, this year infections are 19.8% less compared to the same period of the previous year. He told a briefing the most cases were detected in children under 14 up to 14,713, of which 173 are babies from birth up to 1 year old.
31 pregnant women and 714 schoolchildren were also diagnosed with acute respiratory infections.
Influenza vaccination began October 1 at all health facilities. As of today 68,000, people received vaccine against influenza, including 3,087 children with pre-existing conditions, 21,067 adults, 7,947 health workers, 1,038 pregnant women and 455 pupils.
