Washington to host Nauryz celebration

WASHINGTON. KAZINFORM On the occasion of celebration of Nauryz the Kazakh American Association (Washington, DC) and Kazakh American Alliance (New York City) organizes a concert, followed by reception on March 24 at the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center.

The programme presents Kurmangazy, Kazangap kuis, traditional dances and songs, the Kazakh Embassy to the US said. Throughout the centuries music has been central to the nomadic life of Kazakhs. One hears the sound of Kazakh music at festivals, ceremonies and rituals. "Kui" is the sacred music of Kazakh people. The word "kui" connotes soulful contemplation.
