Water Polo World Cup kicks off in Almaty

ALMATY. KAZINFORM A milestone sporting event, the FINA Men's Water Polo World Cup, started in Almaty. Almaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov unveiled the event.

The world's eight strongest teams will vie for the prestigious trophy.

The FINA Water Polo World Cup is a six-day event organised for both men and women every four years since 1979. Eight teams are selected according to previous World Championships classification (for the first three) and continental championships (for the remaining five, the host country being representative of that continent).
