We are friends of Kazakhstan: Ambassador for Human Rights, Netherlands

KAZINFORM.Chairman of the Commission on Human Rights under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, deputy of the Mazhilis of the RK Parliament Saginbek Tursunov has met with Ambassador for Human Rights of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Arjan Hamburger, Kazinform refers to the press service of the Lower House.

During the meeting the sides discussed the situation with human rights in Kazakhstan. S. Tursunov detailed on the Baseline Report, human rights situation in Kazakhstan, told about a draft of the National Plan of Action on Human Rights for 2009-2011.The Baseline Report was first prepared in the CIS countries. The guest also familiarized himself with the Commission?s digital library for people at large, which has no analogues in the CIS, Baltic and Eastern Europe countries. In addition, the Ambassador talked about the state program for implementing the provisions of the Decree of the RK President ?The Road to Europe? and activities related to the upcoming presidency of the Republic of Kazakhstan in OSCE in 2010. The Ambassador positively evaluated Kazakhstan?s ratification of the first Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the adoption of several amendments on the media, elections, political parties and local governments, as well as human rights activities of the Commission on Human Rights under President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Ambassador wished success to the development of the National Plan of Action on Human Rights. The Ambassador highlighted that the Netherlands are friends of Kazakhstan. S. Tursunov thanked the Ambassador for constructive cooperation in the protection of human rights and expressed his readiness to further development of relations. Deputy of the Mazhilis, expert of the Commission on Human Rights Aigul Solovyova and Secretary of the Commission Tastemir Abishev attended the meeting.
