We should firmly adhere to ancestors' traditions to protect youth from influence of religious movements alien to us - Supreme Mufti of Kazakhstan
Uzbekistan is hosting an international science-to-practice conference titled “Islam – Religion of Peace and Kindness,” Kazinform News Agency reports.
Muftis from 22 countries of the world and famous scholars are participating in the event to share their thoughts on the propagation of the values of Islam, which calls for peace and kindness and to compile appropriate recommendations.
Supreme Mufti of Kazakhstan Nauryzbay kazhy Taganuly noted that Islam should fully entwine with local traditions and call the mankind for unity.
“In their speeches, all participants say that Islam is a peaceful religion appealing for unity. Recently we have held an international forum in Astana, during which important documents were adopted. One of them is called “Islam Supports Traditions of Local Population.” This proves that Islam hails preservation of traditions and lifestyle of the residents of each country,” Nauryzbay kazhy Taganuly said in an interview with Kazinform News Agency.
The Supreme Mufti touched upon the rule which should be applied as a basis for protecting young people from the religious movements which are alien to the Kazakh people..
“We can say that Islam has merged with the customs and traditions of our nation. We should firmly adhere to the traditions of our ancestors to protect young people from the influence of the religious movements which are alien to us,” he said.
He stressed that in the time of information technologies, one should trust only verified information.
“There were world-famous scientists among our ancestors. It is important for us not to get off the path indicated by them, and not to break away from our traditions,” Nauryzbay kazhy Taganuly says. In his words, the forum will end with the adoption of a number of documents on a peace-loving nature of Islam.
Earlier, Chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev spoke on the importance of attraction of youth to the dialogue between confessions and cultures at the XXII meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress of World and Traditional Religions Leaders.
