On Thursday, January 3, the website of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan published information about the social modernization in Kazakhstan. According to the site, Kazakhstan has the best starting conditions in the CIS for social modernization. The beginning of a radical modernization of the social system announced in Kazakhstan in 2012 drew the experts' attention to the starting conditions and the current state of the key parameters of the socio-economic development. By most parameters, Kazakhstan is among the absolute leaders in the former Soviet space.

Over the past 10 years the economy and welfare of the population of Kazakhstan grew more than twofold. By GDP growth, Kazakhstan is ahead of such countries as Ukraine, where for ten years the growth was only 60 percent, Russia - 66 percent, Uzbekistan - 111 percent. Strong growth of Kazakhstan's GDP is clearly seen not only at the level of the CIS countries, but also at the level of the European Union and Europe as a whole. According to the International Monetary Fund, in 2011, GDP growth in Kazakhstan amounted to 7.5 percent. This is the best result among all European countries.

The Human Development Index (HDI) of Kazakhstan is 0.745, which puts it among the countries with high human development. For 15 years from 1995 to 2011 Kazakhstan's HDI rose from 0.636 to 0.745, or by 17 percent.

This speaks of the stable development of the social sphere of Kazakhstan and continuous growth in Kazakhstan's HDI ranking.

According to experts, Kazakhstan realizes its social and economic modernization model, which combines advantages of the East and West, striving to macro regional cooperation and global collaboration.

On Friday, January 4, Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan Kanysh Tuleushin informed the Concept of development of innovative activity till 2020 would be amended this year taking into consideration new priorities outlined in the Strategy of Kazakhstan Development until 2050.

Definite innovation spheres are expected to develop rapidly especially in the context of the main theme of the EXPO-2017 that will be held in Astana.

According to him, the main purpose of the concept is the development of critical for our economy technologies defined by technological forecast and formation of a system of innovation activity support.

The document ensures implementation of eight strategic policies of innovative development: introduction of innovations in the public sector, formation of an innovative environment, improvement of science efficiency, development of an efficient system of technologies commercialization, promotion of innovation activities of business, creation of regional innovation systems, development of innovation infrastructure and international integration for innovations development.

Besides, according to the Government's regulation, pensions were raised by 9 percent from January 1, 2013.
