Wellington named "coolest little capital"
WELLINGTON. November 3. KAZINFORM Wellington has been named the " coolest little capital in the world" by travel guide publisher Lonely Planet; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
It has also ranked Wellington as the 4th top city in the world to visit in 2011.
New Zealand Prime Minister John Key, who also serves as tourism minister, welcomed the tributes, saying Wellington gets a hard time for its windy weather but he believes it adds to the feel of the city.
Positively Wellington Tourism CEO David Perks said Wellington's label as the 'Coolest Little Capital in the World' is quite simply an incredible achievement.
He said New Zealand is often recognized for its rural landscapes, so for the capital city to be ranked as something very special in the world is a fantastic boost to Wellington and New Zealand as a whole.
