West Kazakhstan needs oil spill association - President

ATYRAU. November 17. KAZINFORM /Andrey Sokolov/ Today during a working visit to Atyrau oblast President Nursultan Nazarbayev has chaired a conference on development of the country's oil and gas sphere.

Nursultan Nazarbayev said that exploration of Kazakhstan soil must be conducted with strict observation of environmental norms. This issue must be a priority one. "In other case development of the fields can lead to ecological disaster. We should not forget the accident in the Mexican Gulf", the President stressed.

The President reminded of the propositions initiated by Agip KCO and TCO on establishment of the West Kazakhstan Oil Spill Association providing for cooperation of the forces on liquidation of oil spills both within development of onshore and offshore deposits and and during oil transportation.
