WHO granted Kazakhstan malaria free status
ASTANA. March 28. KAZINFORM World Health Organization Director-General Margaret Chan sent an official letter to Kazakh Health Minister Salidat Kairbekova declaring Kazakhstan a malaria free country.
Margaret Chan highlights Kazakhstan's progress in supporting the malaria-free national territory and highly appreciates Kazakh Government adherence the prevention of re-introduction of malaria to the country and the regional initiative on liquidation of malaria in the European region of the WHO until 2015.
"Inclusion of Kazakhstan into the list of countries officially granted malaria free status will be published in the World Malaria Report in 2012," M. Chen said.
