Wild wind and snowstorms to grip Kazakhstan January 22
Kazhydromet issued a weather forecast for Kazakhstan on January 22, Kazinform News Agency reports.
A cyclone shifting from Scandinavia sets the tone throughout Kazakhstan, bringing snow to the greater part, and snow and rain to the country’s south, southeast, and east. High wind, snowstorms, fog, and ice slick are predicted countrywide.
Heavy snowfall is expected today in Akmola, North Kazakhstan, Karaganda, East Kazakhstan, Pavlodar and Ulytau regions.
A monster wind gusting 30m/s and more is expected to roll through Akmola, Almaty, Zhetysu, Turkistan, Zhambyl, Pavlodar, Karaganda, East Kazakhstan, Abai, and Ulytau regions.
As earlier reported, over 2,900 people were stuck on the roads due to poor visibility and bad weather conditions in Karaganda region.
Heavy snowstorms and gusting wind paralyzed the Kazakh capital yesterday despite the round-the-clock operation of the utility services.
Earlier, Kazinform also reported about flight delays at the Astana Airport.
