Will Kazakhstan ramp up oil supplies to Germany
Kazakhstan considers an issue of increasing oil supplies to Germany up to 2 million tons, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the Ministry of Energy.
“As part of development of additional oil export directions from Kazakhstan, in 2022, the Agreement on annual transit of 1.5 million tons of oil with Azerbaijan was signed. Over 1.4 million tons of Kazakh oil were transported via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan route in 2024,” the Ministry’s reply to an the Agency's official request reads.
Alongside, the Ministry says, 1.5 million tons of Kazakh oil were delivered to the Schwedt oil refinery in 2024 under the agreement between Kazakhstan, Germany and Russia.
“Earlier, the German side expressed interest in increasing oil deliveries to the Schwedt refinery up to 2 million tons. This issue is being discussed now. It should be noted that Kazakh oil exports depend on commercial attractiveness of the route and agreements between the entities,” the ministry adds.
Last September, Germany requested Kazakhstan to ramp up oil shipments to 2.5 million tons.
