Woman, 22, critically injured as explosive device goes off in Shymkent

SHYMKENT. September 20. KAZINFORM A woman in Shymkent was critically injured on Thursday when explosive device went off in one of the city's districts.

The accident happened in the yard of a private house in Chapayevka district of Shymkent on September 19.

The young woman and her little baby were on their way home when a self-made explosive device exploded. The 22-year-old mother managed to save her baby by pushing the stroller into the house, but, unfortunately, sustained fragment wound of a leg herself. She is in critical condition at the moment.

The device was presumably buried and covered up with soil, the police say. This is the third explosion of an improvised bomb in the same region of Shymkent over the last year.
