World Junior Fire and Rescue Sports Championships kick off in Almaty
A solemn opening ceremony of the XIII World Youth and Junior Fire and Rescue Sports Championship 2024 and IX World Junior Girls Fire and Rescue Sports Championship 2024 took place at the central stadium in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency reports quoting the Emergencies Ministry.
The events brought together Kazakhstan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Russia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Representatives from Cameroon and Saudi Arabia were invited as observers.
Vice Emergencies Minister of Kazakhstan Yerlan Nurpeissov, 1st Deputy Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief Minister of Russia – president of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers Alexander Chupriyan, director of the executive committee of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers Andrei Kalinin and chief judge Sergei Bakirov addressed those present.
Kazakhstan for the first time-ever is playing a host to the World Junior Fire and Rescue Sports Championship.
