Writers’ Union is the pillar of spirituality of our nation, says Tokayev
Today, Almaty city hosted the event on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, Akorda reports.
Among those present were Kazakhstan’s State Counselor Erlan Karin, Culture and Information Minister Aida Balayeva, Turksoy Secretary General Sultan Raev and Eurasian Writers' Union President Ufuk Tuzman.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed a welcome message on the occasion of the event, which was conveyed by State Counselor Karin.
The Writers’ Union is the pillar of spirituality of our nation. Being a creative association of writers and poets, this organization contributes significantly to the development of our literature and culture, their promotion in the world. It can be said that the Union serves as a solid foundation of our national identity. Literature is a great tressure, which underpins our nation’s intellectual deepness and strength of spirit of our nation. It’s development in keeping with the times is not only the task facing authors but also one of the key priorities of the state. A new quality of our nation is currently being formed, with the intelligentsia set to have a special role in raising a progressive generation. I express sincere gratitude to all masters of word artists, who are deeply aware of this responsibility, promote high humanist ideals, stated the Head of State.
Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov also sent a congratulatory letter read out by Advisor to the Kyrgyz President Arslan Koishiyev.
In his speech, State Counselor Karin spoke about the importance of the Union of Writers, highlighting its role in education and that the works promoting humanist ideals contribute to the nation’s quality.
Karin also stressed that the development of literature and the literary community is a priority of the state, pointing out that Tokayev attaches great attention to the support of literary figures and domestic literature not only as President but also as a writer’s son.
Attending the event were also literary figures, representatives of public associations from Türkiye, Russia, China, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, countries of near and far abroad as well as from all parts of Kazakhstan.
