WWII veterans from 26 states to celebrate VE-Day in St Petersburg
The holiday will begin with a military parade on the Palace Square. Then the St. Petersburg war veterans and the city guests will be granted an honorary right to make a gunshot from the cannon of the Peter and Paul Fortress.
Representatives from Russian regions, Belarus, Germany, Denmark, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Moldova, Ukraine, and other countries will march in the common column on the Nevsky Avenue on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the Great Victory, Itar-Tass reports.
Before the march, the Bowl of Military Glory with Eternal Flames from Russian Hero Cities and Cities of Military Glory will be carried along the Nevsky Avenue.
The torches will be traditionally lit up at 05:00 p.m. Moscow time on the rostral columns of the Spit of the Vasilyevsky Island in commemoration of those fallen and in glory of those alive. Festive fireworks will be fired at 10:00 p.m. Moscow time.
