“All beings are flourishing in the height of summer” and the “golden 30th anniversary” of bilateral cooperation - this is how Chinese President Xi Jinping described bilateral cooperation in his article "Staying True to Our Shared Commitment and Opening a New Chapter in China-Kazakhstan Relations" for Kazinform News Agency and the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a letter for Xinhua News Agency. Kazinform correspondent found out what political meaning lies behind the words of the two heads of partner states from Gulnar Shaimergenova, Director of China Studies Center.

“All beings are flourishing in the height of summer” is the first phrase in the article by Chinese President Xi Jinping. What do you think is the political significance of the words of the President of the People's Republic of China and what did he mean by “Summer in Height” and “Sun at Zenith”?

The first phrase of the article, “All beings are flourishing in the height of summer” not only describes the time of year and the weather, but also serves as a metaphor to describe the current state of Chinese-Kazakh relations. In a political context, these words symbolize a period of maximum prosperity, which hints at the maturity and strength of cooperation between China and Kazakhstan. Chinese President Xi Jinping thus emphasizes that bilateral relations are at the peak of their development, and the current moment is ideal for further deepening cooperation. This metaphor can also mean optimism and hope for the future, expressing confidence that the partnership between the two countries will continue to grow and bring mutual benefits. Overall, the phrase creates a positive mood and emphasizes the importance of the current period for strengthening strategic ties.

In a written interview for Xinhua New Agency, President Tokayev noted that he celebrated China and Kazakhstan's "golden 30th anniversary" of bilateral cooperation in September 2022, highlighting the importance of personal ties in deepening cooperation and achieving larger goals through friendly and trusting relations. What do you think should be expected in the future partnership between Kazakhstan and China following the results of the Summit and individual meetings of the two heads of state?

Kazakhstan and China are strengthening bilateral relations at all levels, which is especially important in light of the SCO Heads of State Summit 2024. Negotiations between the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping highlight the importance of personal ties in promoting a strategic partnership. Kazakhstan values close cooperation with China, which is reflected in significant investments and large-scale projects such as the Belt and Road Initiative. In the future, we can expect deepening cooperation in key areas such as agriculture, new energy and automotive manufacturing. Joint efforts will be aimed at increasing trade turnover and diversifying the trade structure, as well as strengthening the role of Kazakhstan as a key transport hub. Particular attention will be paid to cultural and humanitarian exchange and educational initiatives. Joint environmental projects and strengthening security measures within the SCO will also be important areas. The strategic partnership between the two countries will continue to develop, contributing to stability and prosperity in the region, as well as the implementation of global initiatives aimed at sustainable development and prosperity.
