XV World Police and Fire Games open in Belfast, Northern Ireland

ASTANA. August 2. KAZINFORM XV World Police and Fire Games opened in the capital of Northern Ireland in Belfast. At this prestigious international competitions, which are held every two years in different cities around the world, Kazakhstan is represented with its team.

The flag of our country on the parade during the opening ceremony of the Games was being carried by one of the most decorated athletes of the team - Honored Master of Sports of Kazakhstan Serik Nurgaliyev, a police colonel. Captain of the Kazakh squad is nine times champion and world record holder, champion of Europe among law enforcement agencies and the owner of 27 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals at the world championships among law enforcement institutions.

The honor of the country in this international tournament is also represented by a eighteen time world champion of law enforcement police, Lieutenant of South Kazakhstan Askar Zhandarov, a world-class athlete, a senior traffic police inspector of Internal Affairs Department of Astana Talgat Kozhabaev, who before has been awarded the title of Police Major and Master of Sports of Kazakhstan, a senior lieutenant of police of East Kazakhstan region Ashat Elubaev and a police captain from Almaty Abdulsanat Sharafov.

First fights Kazakhstan athletes at XV World Police and Fire Games will begin on August 3. On this day, our athletes will take part in judo matches. In the weight category of over 100 kg against their rivals will be on the mat Askar Zhandarov and Talgat Kozhabaev. Ashat Elubaev will fight in the 90 kg category. August 6 in the contest will be Serik Nurgaliyev (benchpress, pushpullifting, arm wrestling) and the boxer Abdulsanat Sharafov.

XV World Games will last until August 10. The event will be attended by more than 20 thousand guests from more than 70 countries, including about 10,000 law enforcement officers.

The next Games will be held in 2015 in Washington DC (USA).
