Young Kazakhstani Kulymbetova wins silver in over 18 event at jiu-jitsu int’l tournament in Abu Dhabi

 Kazakhstani Zhibek Kulymbetova, 16yo, claimed two silver medals in the U17 and over 18 categories at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2023, Kazinform Agency correspondent reports. 

The 16-year-old athlete from Almaty region had a total of six bouts, fighting experienced jiu jitsu players, European champions, winners of international tournaments from Italy, England, Russia, and Brazil in the over 18 category event.

In the over 18 finals, I fought the Brazilian athletes. After the 2-0 lead, I made a mistake and lost. The tournament was held at the high level, and is a good experience for me… Ready for future training, major tournaments and bring joy to Kazakhstanis, said Kulymbetova.

She thanked her coach Nursultan Orynbassarov, leadership of her club Sagadat batyr — QTT, as well as her team members for support.
