Youth crime reduced by third in Kazakhstan in 5 years
Youth crime has dropped by a third in Kazakhstan over the past five years, Ablai Takirov, the Administrative Police Committee’s senior inspector for special assignments, said, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

As a result of the preventive and legislative measures introduced, a steady decline in youth crime has been observed in the past five years. The number of such crimes has dropped by a third since 2019. The positive dynamic persists in the current year – a 6% reduction, said Takirov.
Property crime offences account for most of crimes committed by youths, while the lack of control by parents of their children’s behavior is the top reason why young people commit crimes.
Takirov went on to add that around 18,000 parents have been held accountable for poor parenting.
