Yulia Timoshenko was sent to hospital for treatment of her own accord
"On Friday evening, having studied the conclusions of German doctors, Timoshenko expressed the wish to take a course of treatment at the hospital that had been offered for the beginning of her rehabilitation in Kharkov (the central clinical hospital of Ukrainian Railways)," says a statement on the state penitentiary service website.
Timoshenko is in hospital already, where she will be offered the full range of medical procedures German and Ukrainian doctors recommend.
Earlier, Ukraine's Prosecutor-General Viktor Pshonka said Timoshenko's refusal to be treated in a special ward at the Kharkov hospital was "procrastination."
"There are official conclusions from German doctors regarding the therapeutic capabilities of that hospital - they are excellent and meet the European standards," Pshonka said.
The German doctors who have looked into the possibility of Timoshenko undergoing treatment at the Ukrainian Railways hospital in Kharkov have no objections against this medical establishment, the press-service of the Ukrainian Health Ministry said on Thursday with reference to the doctors' official conclusions it had received from the Foreign Ministry.
