Zarina Diyas may face top-seed Aryna Sabalenka at WTA 1000 China Open

Kazakhstani Zarina Diyas (ranked 571st), who returned to the WTA Tour this year after a two-year recovery, will commence her participation in the main draw of the WTA 1000 tennis tournament in Beijing, China on September 26, Kazinform News Agency reports citing Sports.kz

Zarina will face Thailand's Mananchaya Sawangkaew (ranked 187th) in the first round. In case of victory, Diyas will vie against top-seed Aryna Sabalenka in the second round.

After defeating Spain's Rebeka Masarova in the semifinals in two sets with a score of 6:4, 6:0, Zarina Diyas reached the final of the qualifying round of the WTA 1000 tennis tournament in Beijing.

Later, the Kazakh tennis player beat British Heather Watson (ranked 57th) in the final qualifying bout in two sets with a score of 6:0, 6:2.

The WTA 1000 China Open stands at 8,955,610 US dollars. The winner will earn 1,110,000 US dollars and 1,000 rank points. The event is set to run from September 25 through October 6.
