Kazakhstani Zarina Diyas (ranked 571st) played her first match in the main draw of the WTA 1000 tennis tournament in Beijing, China, Kazinform News Agency reports citing Sports.kz

Zarina faced Thailand's Mananchaya Sawangkaew (ranked 187th) in the 1/64 finals. The Kazakh athlete lost in two sets with a score of 2:6, 3:6. Thus, Mananchaya Sawangkaew is set to playt against top-seed Aryna Sabalenka in the second round.

Recall that after defeating Spain's Rebeka Masarova in the semifinals in two sets with a score of 6:4, 6:0, Zarina Diyas reached the final of the qualifying round of the WTA 1000 tennis tournament in Beijing.

Later, the Kazakh tennis player beat British Heather Watson (ranked 57th) in the final qualifying bout in two sets with a score of 6:0, 6:2.

The prize pool of the WTA 1000 China Open totals 8,955,610 US dollars. The winner will earn 1,110,000 US dollars and 1,000 rank points. The event is set to run from September 25 through October 6.
