Zhambyl region steps up production of solar panels

TARAZ. February 21. KAZINFORM Production of solar panels is planned in Zhambyl region, governor Kanat Bozumbayev told a Wednesday briefing with the participation of Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Kapparov.

"A group of foreign investors has made a very interesting offer on the construction of a 5 MW solar power plant in Zhambyl region," Mr. Bozumbayev said. "After we finish the construction of this plant, we plan to build another one that will produce our own solar panels."

"Residents of Zhambyl region should be proud of the fact that their region stands first in embedding 'green economy' and renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan," Minister Kapparov noted.

To date, three renewable energy sources projects have been implemented in the region within two years. Three hydroelectric power stations are to be put into operation in 2013. Plus, a wind power station is expected to be launched in the town of Zhanatas in 2014-2015.

As reported earlier, Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Kapparov made a working trip to Zhambyl region.
