Zhanat Elimanov reports to President on special operations of financial intelligence units of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia
Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received today Chairman of the Financial Monitoring Agency Zhanat Elimanov, Kazinform News Agency learned from the Akorda press service.
The President was reported about the Agency’s work in 2024 and the tasks set for the upcoming period.
According to Zhanat Elimanov, the implementation of the 2023-2025 Comprehensive Plan for Countering Shadow Economy allowed to reduce its level to 1.3%.
The Agency completed the investigation of 1,312 criminal cases, with 236.8 billion tenge compensated for damages.
Zhanat Elimanov said that 152.3 billion tenge of criminal proceeds had been confiscated. 20 pretrial investigations into the organized crime groups and one investigation into a transnational group were launched. 42 pyramid schemes were liquidated.
Some 15,000 websites and accounts advertising fraudulent schemes were blocked. 327 chats in messengers were closed which enabled to prevent financial losses of more than 2 million citizens. 41 online gambling platforms on social media, 30 gaming halls, illegal gambling sites and betting firms were revealed. Access to 11,700 websites of online casinos was blocked.
The Agency also prevented unjustified budget expenses to the amount of 120 billion tenge and the attempts to legalize criminal proceeds through 36 illegal crypto exchangers.
Zhanat Elimanov also informed the President that following special operations conducted jointly by the financial intelligence units of Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Russia, 35 drug-dealers were detained and three major online shops selling narcotic drugs were blocked.
The Agency also prevented and identified the activity of 1,787 legal entities involved in fictitious financial operations and transactions. 1,200 attempts to transfer funds to the accounts of terrorist and extremist organizations were blocked.
At the end of the meeting, The Head of State set a number of tasks to the Agency on the key areas of its activity.
Earlier, the Head of State received newly-appointed First Deputy Chief of President’s Executive Office Darkhan Satybaldy.
