Zhaulybai batyr was a commander-in-chief of the home guard of the Ulytau district. In spring 1747 Sultan Barak organized a mission for establishment of relations with the Russian emperor. Zhaulybai Batyr was a member of the mission, he was known for his outstanding diplomatic skills, and called a hero. The name of Zhaulybai batyr is mentioned in the work of Shokan Ualikhanov ?The legend about the Kazakh batyrs of XVII century?. It means that his name is always in memory of our nation. According to the memorials of a past age, Zhaulybai batyr was born in 1697. Zhaulybai batyr mastered the art of war long before a decisive battle with the Dzhungars in 1762. Zhaulybai Otegenuly died in one of the liberation battles against the Dzhungars. Zhaulybai Otegenuly is one of the great persons of our nation. Defending his motherland he left immortal memory in the history of the 300-year war. Akyns Kalabai Nazaruly and Serikbai Ospanuly sang of Zhaulybai batyr.
