Zhetysu region eyes around 200 projects totaling KZT3.5trl

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan was familiarized with the social and economic development of Zhetysu region as part of his working visit, Akorda reports.

According to governor Beibit Issabayev, Zhetysu region’s gross regional product stood at 781 billion tenge, with a 6.2 increase, in the first half of the year. The figure is expected to reach 7.1% by the yearend. The region’s short-term economic indicator was estimated at 112.8% following nine months.

The region also reported an upward trend in agriculture as well as considerable growths in manufacturing, trade and construction. This year, 247,600 sq.km. of housing have been commissioned in the region, which is a 4.1% year-on-year rise.

The Head of State was also informed about the work underway to attract new investors and increase the investment attractiveness of the region.

Since the beginning of the year, the region has attracted 327.1 billion worth of investments, a 1.3-fold increase. There has been a 1.6 rise in private investments. Issabayev noted that an investment portfolio has been set up with 190 projects worth 3.5 trillion tenge included, allowing for creation of over 11,800 jobs. This year, 48 projects to the tune of 54.9 billion tenge are underway.

In addition, President Tokayev was briefed about industrial development of Zhetysu. To date, 549 enterprises providing 30,000 people with jobs have been registered in the region. In nine months of this year, the region’s industrial output rose 3.9%.

Hailing the new initiatives, the President tasked to keep pace with the social and economic development of the region and continue the work.

Earlier it was reported that President Tokayev embarked on his working visit to Zhetysu region. The Kazakh leader visited the ASMA INDUSTRIAL plant in the Taldykorgan industrial zone.
