Zhetysu region to produce 71,000 tons of sugar

Two sugar mills of Zhetysu region sold 330,000 tons of sugar beet, of which 240,000 tons was sold to the Koksu sugar house and 90,000 tons to the Aksu sugar mill and refinery, governor of Zhetysu region Beibit Issabayev told a briefing at the central communications service under the Kazakh President in Astana, Kazinform News Agency reports.

This year the two sugar mills are expected to produce 42,000 tons of sugar from sugar beet and 29,000 tons from sugar cane.

He also said the region is building 11 water sector facilities to increase the acreage of the high-yielding crop. As a result of the measures taken the water supply of 48,000 hectares will be improved, and 20,000 hectares more will be put into service.
