14 neighboring districts to join city of Taraz

Over 45,000 people living Baizak and Zhambyl districts will join the regional center, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The authorities continue to divide the city into two administrative centers. 14 rural settlements of Baizak and Zhambyl districts covering 13,100 hectares with a population of 45,701 people will join Taraz so the city population will exceed 479,000.

Mayors of Baizak district and deputy of Zhambyl district reported to Taraz mayor Bakytzhan Orynbekov on the socioeconomic issues of the rural settlements included to the city.

A special working group is set to develop a plan to tackle problems of new areas and a special roadmap.

As earlier reported, Taraz will be divided into two administrative centers with a population over 200,000 in each.

The city borders will be expanded through the annexation of parts of Zhambyl and Baizak districts. So, the area of Taraz will be increased from 18,787 hectares to 31,798 hectares.
