2012 London Olympics champion Olga Rypakova to helm Kazakhstan’s Athletics Federation
Kazakhstan’s Athletics Federation held its final meeting in 2024 with the participation of the Minister of Tourism and Sport, Yerbol Myrzabossynov, Kazinform News Agency reports.
President of the Federation Danial Akhmetov, heads of regional federations, athletes and other officials of the Federation participated in the meeting.
Danial Akhmetov reported on the Federation’s activity and Kazakhstani athletes' achievements at the international competitions. He also announced his resignation and proposed candidacy of Olga Rypakova, winner of the 2012 London Olympic Games, to the position of the Federation President.
The participants including the heads of regional federations and sports community unanimously backed her candidacy.
Minister Myrzabossynov thanked Danial Akhmetov for his work and wished success to Olga Rypakova at the post of the President of the Athletics Federation.
Upon completion of the meeting, Myrzabossynov tasked Olga Rypakova to focus on the development of international cooperation in athletics and training of athletes.
Previously, Kazinform reported that World Boxing officially announced the establishment of a new Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC), which would be responsible for the development and promotion of boxing in Asia.
