Astana to welcome New Year with festive fireworks display

New Year trees have been set up in 15 locations across the Kazakh capital, kicking off New Year's celebrations, mayor of Astana Zhenis Kassymbek said, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

A fireworks display will take place on December 31. New Year trees were lit up across the city just the other day. Over 30 public spaces are ready to host New Year celebrations, with kid’s ice-skating rinks and slides installed. New Year trees have been set up in 15 locations across the city, kicking off New Year's celebrations, said Kassymbek during a press conference at the Central Communication Service.

Earlier it was reported that over a thousand people packed the territory of Astana Arena stadium on Wednesday evening for the annual New Year tree lighting in the Kazakh capital of Astana. This year’s New Year Tree is 25 meters high.
