Azerbaijan mourns AZAL plane crash victims
December 26 has been declared a national day of mourning in Azerbaijan, AzerTAC reports.
President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on December 25 to observe mourning for the tragic crash of the Embraer 190 passenger plane operating the Baku–Grozny flight near the city of Aktau.
38 died and 29 survived as Baku-Grozny flight J2-8243 operated by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, on December 25.
All six Kazakhstani nationals who were onboard the plane, died. It was revealed that four out of six victims were the residents of Mangistau region, on was from Kostanay region and one was from Astana.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a letter of condolences to his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.
