As part of President’s Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to China, a delegation of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy participated in a number of international events including the 3rd High-Level Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The delegation met with the chiefs of China Railway, CRRC, Huawei, JSC Lianyungang Port, and other partners. Several documents were signed including a framework agreement with China’s major CRRC corporation on the purchase of locomotives and a cooperation agreement with JSC Lianyungang Port.

The meetings emphasized a strategic role of Kazakhstan, which became a key link in Belt and Road initiative, which celebrates its 10th anniversary.

In this decade, container cargo turnover between Kazakhstan and China exceeded 6.5 million containers, while the volume of transportations on China-Europe-China route rose more than 100 times – from 7,600 in 2013 to 790,000 containers in 2022.
